MLB Rumors: Astros To Launch Major Sell At Trade Deadline
That era appears to be ending.
At 15-23 with the worst pitching staff ERA in baseball, four starters already on the injured list including Hunter Brown, and a roster that has visibly aged past its competitive peak, Houston is tracking toward its first significant trade deadline sell in over a decade.
Isaac Paredes, when asked if the position changes are impacting his struggles, per @brianmctaggart:

Ken Rosenthal confirmed the general direction in a television appearance, stating the Astros will be open to moving several key pieces if the season continues in its current direction.
The one exception he made explicit was Yordan Alvarez. "I can't imagine trading Yordan Alvarez," Rosenthal said. "He is one of their centerpieces."
Alvarez is hitting .324 with 12 home runs and an OPS over 1.060, leading the AL in hits and producing at an MVP level despite the team's record around him.
The Names That Are Actually Available
Isaac Paredes is the most frequently cited trade candidate and has been since the offseason.
He was engulfed in trade rumors all winter before a lack of leverage kept him in Houston, and the deadline represents the reset of that pursuit.
He has one arbitration year remaining before free agency, which gives acquiring teams two years of control, and the emergence of Christian Walker at first base has made Paredes increasingly superfluous in the infield.
Walker himself surfaces as a potential chip.
He signed a three-year, $60 million deal before the 2025 season and has one $20 million year remaining after this one.

A contender looking for a right-handed first baseman with Walker's track record would find him appealing, and Houston could slide Paredes back to first base and use the return to accelerate a rebuild.
Lance McCullers Jr. is an impending free agent, making him a pure rental option for a rotation-needy contender willing to bet on his health in the second half.
Bryan Abreu is the wildest card on the pitching staff.
He has a 14.73 ERA and lost the closer's job, but five straight seasons of sub-2.35 ERA ball make him the kind of reclamation project a contender might attach a conditional piece to before July 31.
