NL Team Linked To Trade For Angels' Reid Detmers
FanSided floated a trade sending Los Angeles Angels left-hander Reid Detmers to Milwaukee, a move made more pressing by Brandon Woodruff's return to the injured list.
Why the Brewers Need an Arm
Woodruff left his start against the Diamondbacks in the fourth inning and was placed on the 15-day IL with shoulder inflammation, his second IL stint of the season with shoulder issues.
That leaves Milwaukee, which is chasing another NL Central title, thin on rotation depth despite its excellent pitching development track record.

Detmers would give the Brewers a third young lefty alongside Kyle Harrison and rookie Shane Drohan.
Why Detmers Fits
Detmers is exactly the kind of pitcher Milwaukee likes to acquire, a talented arm on a bad team who could be unlocked in the Brewers' system.
The 26-year-old is under team control through 2028, making him far more than a rental, and while his 4.13 ERA in 18 starts is unremarkable, his underlying numbers are excellent.
He has 117 strikeouts in 104.2 innings, a 2.91 FIP that ranks in the top 10 among MLB starters, and a career-best 7.9 percent walk rate, with his strikeout rate trending up over the last three seasons.

The 2020 No. 10 overall pick threw a no-hitter as a rookie in 2022 and has the raw stuff teams covet.
MLB.com's Mark Feinsand listed Detmers among his trade candidates, noting that with two years of club control remaining, this may be the right time for the Angels to move him.
The Angels' Situation
Los Angeles is tied near the bottom of the majors and just fired GM Perry Minasian, installing former Cardinals executive John Mozeliak on an interim basis, a front-office transition that could accelerate a sell-off.
The Angels have one of the weakest farm systems in baseball and are looking to replenish it, making Detmers a logical trade chip despite reporting that suggests they may prefer to keep him.
FanSided's proposed package centered on Brewers shortstop prospect Luis Pena, Baseball America's 19th-ranked prospect overall, along with MLB-ready catcher Jeferson Quero and two lower-level arms.
Paying for two more years of control would allow Milwaukee to build a young rotation foundation around Harrison, Detmers, and Jacob Misiorowski, though the Brewers would face competition from the Braves, Guardians, and others for one of the market's more appealing controllable arms.
