MLB Trade Rumors: Astros & Brewers Linked in Proposed Deal

The Houston Astros are off to a slow start to the 2026 season, sitting in the unfamiliar standing of last place in the AL West division. Isaac Paredes's slow start is just one of the reasons. He's batting just .190 with no homers and a .565 OPS. This, from a player coming off back-to-back All-Star seasons.

But Paredes doesn't really have a regular home in the Astros lineup, having played some first, some second, and quite a bit of third base so far this season. Whether that's interfering with his approach at the plate is unknown.

He's also been the subject of trade rumors since the offseason, with his place in the regular lineup having been uncertain. Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report writes that Paredes "remains a logical trade candidate." And to that end, he's proposed a deal that would send him to a team that is in desperate need for a player of his caliber at third base.

Milwaukee Brewers receive:

  • Isaac Paredes

Houston Astros receive:
  • RHP Logan Henderson (Brewers' No. 6 prospect)
  • OF Luis Lara (No. 10 prospect)

The Brewers would get a huge boost with Paredes, who would get a chance to be the regular third baseman, and vastly improve on the combined .170 average by current third basemen Luis Rengifo and David Hamilton, who have zero home runs.

The Astros get a couple of top 10 Milwaukee prospects who can contribute right away. Henderson pitched one inning near the beginning of the season for the Brewers, but since then, has been shutting down AAA batters with a 0.96 ERA through 9.1 innings with 14 strikeouts.

Lara is a 21-year-old who is batting .368 with a .985 OPS at AAA Nashville, with 11 stolen bases in 18 games. He wiped 45 bases last season in the minors, and 44 the year before that.

The Astros would get a nice return in this proposed deal for a player that ultimately doesn't have a regular spot in their lineup.
