3 Potential Landing Spots For Bo Bichette In Potential Trade

Bo Bichette's bombshell signing with the New York Mets this past offseason appears like it'll be a one-and-done. All indications are that he'll be opting out of the remaining two years of his outlanding $42M AAV deal to try his hand at free agency once again.

And because of the heavily front-loaded cash structure, he was paid a $40 million signing bonus immediately on March 15, leaving him with a base salary of only $2 million for the 2026 season. Teams will have no burden financially taking him on, even if only as a two-month rental. And his versatility to play either shortstop or third base only adds to his value.

With that, let's have a look at three teams that make a lot of sense for Bichette as trade destinations if he is on the move at the deadline.

Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers are once again the team to beat in the NL Central Division, with a huge 6.0 game lead atop the bracket, at 60-37. But the left side of their infield has left a lot to be desired, as they stand dead-last in baseball in OPS from their shortstops, and 24th in OPS from third base. Bichette would be a big boost at either spot.

Philadelphia Phillies

Back in the winter, it was the Phillies who thought they had Bichette all lined up to to be their new third baseman, with a huge seven-year, $200 million offer. But the Mets swooped in at the 11th hour with their stunning offer to steal him away. Could the Phils have a second chance now at Bichette? Alec Bohm's production at the hot corner has Philly 26th in baseball in OPS.

Atlanta Braves

The Braves have been looking for a true solution at shorstop ever since Dansby Swanson left after the 2022 season. A parade of nine different players have tried to fill the void at short since then, and in only one year of Orlando Arcia in 2023 did they receive solid big league production. Bichette would be a huge addition to the Braves lineup, and bring their 12th-ranked hitting more in line with their 5th-ranked pitching.
