Jose Ramirez has always said he wanted to be a Cleveland Guardian for life. Now, once again, he's proven it. In April, 2022, Ramirez and the Guardians agreed on a five-year, $124M contract extension.@z101digital
The 33-year-old third baseman had three years and $69 million left on the already team-friendly extension he signed in '22. The new deal now becomes a seven-year, $175 million contract that runs through 2032. Again, far less than market value for one of the top 5 or 10 players in baseball.
He'll receive annual salaries of $25 million from 2026-32, with $10 million deferred each season, which will be paid starting in 2036.
With his new extension, Ramirez will accomplish something not done in Cleveland in 80+ years
Ramirez will be the first (future) Hall of Famer to play their entire career with Cleveland since Bob Feller in the 1940s.

The Guardians legend is still at the top of his game, after hitting .283 with 30 homers, 85 RBIs and 44 stolen bases in 2025, and finishing third in American League MVP balloting.
Overall, in a 13-year career, the seven-time All-Star has batted .279 with an .857 OPS, while blasting 285 home runs (which ranks second in franchise history behind Jim Thome's 337), with 287 stolen bases (second only behind Kenny Lofton at 452).
