MLB Rumors: Dodgers Could Make Shocking Trade

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts walks to the mound during 2025 game.

Fresh off a World Series run, the Los Angeles Dodgers suddenly find Tyler Glasnow at the center of new trade speculation.

With Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki already anchoring the rotation and young arms like Emmet Sheehan emerging, one MLB executive told ESPN that Glasnow looks like a “sleeper” trade candidate.

It's obviously not about performance. Glasnow posted a 3.19 ERA with 106 strikeouts in 90.1 innings in 2025 and shined in October, grabbing a Game 6 World Series save and grinding through 2.1 high stress innings in Game 7.

Those outings boosted his value around the league and turned him into a luxury piece rather than an untouchable.

Why Tyler Glasnow Is On The Dodgers’ Trade Radar

Executives view the Dodgers’ pitching depth as a rare surplus in a league where most contenders are scrambling just to find three reliable starters.

Glasnow would immediately start for almost any other playoff hopeful. That gives Los Angeles a powerful trade chip they could use to upgrade weaker areas like the bullpen or parts of the lineup.

An anonymous executive put it bluntly in the ESPN survey, saying the Dodgers can comfortably lean on Ohtani, Yamamoto, Snell, Sasaki and Sheehan, then use Glasnow on the trade market to cover holes elsewhere. His health history will always be part of the conversation, but his upside and recent postseason track record keep his trade value high.

What A Glasnow Trade Would Mean For Los Angeles

Insiders have already floated more aggressive scenarios. Jim Bowden recently mentioned that he would not be shocked if Glasnow, who does not have a no trade clause, ended up in a bigger pitching for pitching swap involving a frontline arm like Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers

That wouldn't be about filling a lineup need, but it shows how often Glasnow’s name is coming up in front office conversations. The Dodgers are not desperate to move him and they value rotation depth, yet they are also staring at luxury tax concerns and clear needs in the outfield and relief corps.
