Seattle Mariners Make Crucial Decision on Starter Bryan Woo
He was arguably the Seattle Mariners' best starter over the course of the regular season, amongst an elite rotation, but Bryan Woo was not on the M's ALDS roster due to a pectoral injury that's kept him out since Sept. 19. Woo has apparently recovered sufficiently at this point to be added to the Seattle roster for the ALCS.

It's thought that Woo won't be ready to go until mid-week, but that extra few days should be the difference in getting their All-Star arm into the Championship Series against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The 25-year-old Woo led the Mariners with a 2.94 ERA this season among starters, with a 0.92 WHIP, a 198:36 strikeout to walk ratio in 186.2 innings, and (for what it's worth) a 15-7 record. He held opposing batters to a .200 average.
Woo's return is a huge relief for the M's, after the workload that George Kirby, Logan Gilbert and Luis Castillo put in during the Division Series. Each of them were forced to pitch twice in the five-game set against the Detroit Tigers, as Gilbert and Castillo were called upon to come out of the bullpen in the 15-inning marathon Game 5 series clincher Friday night.
Game 1 of the ALCS is Sunday night in Toronto, with the Mariners forced to go with their fifth starter Bryce Miller because of that insane game on Friday eating up the availability of Gilbert and Castillo. Miller had an ugly 5.68 ERA this season. He'll go up against Jays ace Kevin Gausman, who pitched to a 2.78 ERA over five September starts, and a 1.59 ERA in his one ALDS start.
