MLB Rumors: Dodgers To Pursue Another Massive Name This Offseason

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts walks onto the field during 2025 game.

Kyle Tucker free agency buzz is already swirling, and it lines up with how the Los Angeles Dodgers operate.

Two straight World Series trips have not dulled their appetite for stars. League reporting says Dodgers officials love Tucker’s all-field bat and two-way profile, and outfield remains the one area that could use another middle-order force.

Tucker’s walk power blend fit right into the Chicago Cubs lineup before injuries slowed his second half, and that early run reminded everyone why he is the class of this winter’s market.

Why Tucker fits the Dodgers right now
The Dodgers can rearrange their corners to absorb him without friction.

A right field look for Tucker would let Teoscar Hernández slide to left, which also makes it easier to turn the page from Michael Conforto after he slipped out of the October mix.

Even with a deep roster, Los Angeles got league-average production in left, and Tucker’s on-base skill would lengthen innings for Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman. He brings 20-plus homers, 20-plus steals, and a run-creation clip that plays in October.

What the market might look like
Tucker’s finish in 2024 trimmed talk of a Soto-level deal, yet the number still projects enormous.

Industry chatter places him in the 300 to 400 million range, and the Dodgers have both the motive and the means to press the bidding. The Cubs want him back after paying a steep trade price, and big-market clubs will lurk, but Los Angeles has spent aggressively in recent winters and can justify one more marquee swing if it cleans up their only soft spot.

If the price crests beyond comfort, they can pivot, though recent history says they prefer adding difference-makers rather than shopping around the edges.
