MLB Rumors: Proposed Trade Sends Hunter Greene To Red Sox
The 26-year-old flamethrower is under contract through 2028 with a 2029 club option, and the stuff is exactly what a contender wants at the top of a rotation.
A realistic Boston offer starts with Jarren Duran, then layers in premium pitching like lefty Payton Tolle and outfielder Jhostynxon Garcia (No. 3 prospect.), as proposed by Cody Williams of Fansided.
That kind of package gives the Cincinnati Reds a cost-controlled leadoff bat today plus near-ready mound help for tomorrow, which matches their public goal of adding offense while dipping into surplus pitching.
Hunter Greene was a SUPERSTAR this season. In 19 starts HG posted:

For Boston, Greene slides right behind Garrett Crochet and ahead of Brayan Bello, turning a good trio into a headache for every October lineup.
Moving Duran would sting, but the Sox can still run out Roman Anthony, Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu in the outfield, with Kristian Campbell and Rob Refsnyder covering matchups. Greene’s workload history requires care, yet the payoff is an October ceiling that Boston lacked down the stretch.
Why the Reds would listen, and what changes next
Cincinnati can afford to deal from a rotation core that still features Andrew Abbott, Nick Lodolo, Brady Singer and top prospect Chase Burns. Duran gives the lineup instant speed and on-base punch at the top, pushing Elly De La Cruz back into damage counts.
Swapping Greene’s salary track for multiple young pieces also creates room to chase a bat in free agency. Add Tolle’s fastball-cutter mix and another live arm, and the Reds replace some strikeout punch while raising the everyday floor of the offense.

The price will be steep because Greene is that rare blend of age, contract and electricity.
If Boston is serious about a deep run, this is the kind of swing that changes a postseason bracket. If Cincinnati wants runs without gutting the staff, this is the cleanest path to get there.
