Los Angeles Angels Sign Former Top Prospect Infielder
The Los Angeles Angels have signed veteran utility player Cavan Biggio to a minor league contract, assigning him to Triple-A Salt Lake.
The move comes just a week after the Kansas City Royals released the 30-year-old, who struggled in limited MLB action this season with a .174/.296/.246 slash line over 37 games.

Fresh Start Following Triple-A Success
While Biggio couldn’t find his rhythm in Kansas City, he fared much better in the minors, batting .285 with four home runs, 23 RBIs, and an .839 OPS in 41 games for Triple-A Omaha. His defensive versatility, with experience at first, second, third, and both corner outfield spots, gives the Angels a flexible depth option.

Biggio, 30, was once a top prospect in the Blue Jays organization, he is also the son of MLB Hall of Famer, Craig Biggio.

Path Back to the Majors
The Angels, currently under .500, could turn to Biggio for a September call-up if he carries his Triple-A form into Salt Lake. A former Toronto Blue Jays regular and son of Hall of Famer Craig Biggio, he brings veteran experience and on-base skills to an organization that may look to give him a late-season opportunity.
