MLB Trade Rumors: Teams All Over White Sox Rookie Pitcher Leading Up To Deadline

Chicago White Sox pitcher Grant Taylor pitches during 2025 game.

With the MLB trade deadline just days away, rival teams are lining up to ask the Chicago White Sox about rookie right-hander Grant Taylor.

According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, multiple clubs have been “all over” Taylor in trade talks, but the White Sox have been reluctant to even engage in discussions. One team source described the front office as “uncomfortable” with the idea of moving the 23-year-old, who’s quickly emerged as one of Chicago’s most intriguing young arms.

White Sox Rumors: Grant Taylor Drawing Intense Trade Deadline Interest

Since making his MLB debut on June 10, Taylor has impressed scouts with a 99 mph fastball and elite strikeout ability, fanning 23 batters across 18.1 innings. His surface-level 3.93 ERA doesn’t tell the whole story, as advanced metrics like a 2.50 SIERA and 31.5% strikeout rate paint the picture of a potential long-term difference-maker.

The White Sox, deep in a rebuild, could likely command a massive return for Taylor, who offers up to seven years of team control. However, given his upside as a future starter or high-leverage reliever, Chicago may be unwilling to move him without a franchise-altering offer.

The White Sox appear committed to building around Taylor rather than cashing in now, making him one of the most sought-after but least likely trade candidates heading into the July 31 deadline.
