Rangers Activate Rookie Starter; Option Pitcher

The Texas Rangers have activated pitcher Cole Ragans from the 15-day injured list. 

Ragans returned to the Rangers' rotation on Wednesday, tossing three shutout innings against the Houston Astros, allowing no hits and three walks while striking out three.

The twenty-four-year-old has posted a 3.80 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, and 12 strikeouts across 21 innings this season. The rookie southpaw has made five starts this season. 

The Rangers have optioned pitcher A.J Alexy to Triple-A Round Rock.

Alexy has allowed five earned runs over 6.2 innings of work with the Rangers this season, working out to a 6.75 ERA and a 2.25 WHIP. He's recorded five strikeouts and one win.
