Veteran Infielder Elects Free Agency

Robinson Cano has cleared waivers. Instead of accepting an outright assignment by the Atlanta Braves, he instead has elected to become a free agent again.

This is familiar territory for Cano, as he has been released by the New York Mets, San Diego Padres, and Braves this season alone. Yet, the longtime MLB infielder is not ready to call it a career and will be seeking another home for the remainder of the season.

Cano has had such a rough year, and the truth is in his stats. In 100 at-bats, he has just 15 hits - which equates to a .150 batting average. That is a far cry from what the eight-time All-Star was capable of during his prime. Yet, his experience could lead to another team giving him a chance. Let's see what happens on that front.
