MLB Rumors: 3 Teams in Talks to Sign Freddie Freeman

The MLB is back and free agent across the league are gearing up for their phones to blow up once the deal is ratified. None more than Freddie Freeman who is one of the biggest names on the market. There's a significant amount of interest from several teams with three being named recently as favorites.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers are looking to add Freeman to their mix as they have a dyer need for a left-handed hitting power bat for the middle of their lineup with the departure of Corey Seager to the Texas Rangers. Freeman can provide the pop and play a gold-glove caliber first base, and given he has a home in the area, the Dodgers are becoming the favorites to land the former Atlanta Brave. We all know money won't be an issue and expect LA to make a huge offer once they're able to.

Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays made contact with Freeman before the lockout and while a contract offer was never announced, some believe they were close to getting to that point. His family has ties to Canada and he's represented the country during international play in the past. While Vladimir Guerrero Jr mans first base at the moment up north, there's been talks about platooning with Freeman, using the DH and even having Guerrero go back to his former position of third base on a semi-regular basis. Regardless of how it all plays out, expect the Blue Jays to be there until a decision is made from Freeman and his camp.

New York Yankees

The Yankees are trying to land several big fish and while they love Freeman and could sign him once free agency opens, it appears they are more focused on signing Carlos Correa to play shortstop everyday and adding to their rotation. They have Luke Voit as an option at first base and have held preliminary discussions with Anthony Rizzo about a potential return. If Freeman decides to leave the Yankees at the alter, expect to see them fill their void soon after.
