Angels Scratch Jose Soriano From Start With Trade Looming

Top trade candidate Jose Soriano has been scratched from his start on Saturday by the Los Angeles Angels, in anticipation of a deal about to go down. 
The 27-year-old started the 2026 season on a historical run, allowing just one earned run total in his first six starts for a 0.24 ERA. He surrendered just 18 hits in 37.2 innings over that stretch. Soriano has come down to earth since then, but still holds a 3.29 ERA on the season with a 9-6 record on a last-place team. 

He is in demand on the trade market, and it appears that the Halos, unlike in past years, are going to do some selling by Monday's deadline.

Across four seasons in the majors, the last three of them as a starter, Soriano has compiled a 3.72 ERA in 73 starts and 113 appearances. He strikes out 8.7  batters per nine innings. 

Teams like the Chicago Cubs, White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Milwaukee Brewers and others are thought to be suitors of Soriano.
