Trevor Bauer Makes A Move, Still Eyeing MLB Return

Former Cy Young winner and embattled major league pitcher, Trevor Bauer, has changed leagues as he continues to try to find some interest from someone—anyone—for a potential major league return.

Bauer spent the past couple of months dominating in the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball with the Long Island Ducks, but has now had his contract transfered to the Diablos Rojos del México of the Mexican League, a team he pitched for back in 2024 as well.

LI Ducks owner Michael Pfaff posted a nice send-off for Bauer after the transfer was announced, saying that he "exceeded every expectation during his time with us. From his dominance on the mound to his commitment to fans, he had tremendous impact both on & off field. While we hoped to see him return to MLB, we’re excited for this next opportunity & wish him continued success in LMB."

With the Ducks, Bauer went 5-1 with a 2.36 ERA and a 66:7 strikeout to walk ratio in 40 innings across seven starts.

The last time he pitched for the Diablos Rojos del México, he went 10-0 with a 2.48 ERA along with 13 K/9.

Bauer remains persona non grata in MLB circles due to allegations of sexual assault and domestic violence, which led to a 194-game suspension for Bauer. The LA Dodgers, his last team in the majors, released him after the suspension was up in early 2023.

The Los Angeles District Attorney declined to file criminal charges against him in the case, due to insufficient evidence. Bauer filed a counter-lawsuit against his accuser, which was settled in 2023, with a judge ordering the pitcher's accuser to pay him over $300,000.

Bauer, now 35, takes his talents back to Mexico, after also pitching in Japan before landing in Long Island to begin the 2026 season.

But he's still no closer to having a major league team consider him for a job.
