MLB Trade Rumors: Red Sox' OF Jarred Duran Heads to Diamondbacks in Proposed Deal
Sean MacAdam of MassLive wrote earlier this year that "The Diamondbacks have long coveted Jarren Duran." If their interest hasn't waned in the light of this ugly season, we have a proposed trade that does indicate a fair bit of value, that would land the speed/power outfielder in the desert. It comes to us from Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report.
Arizona Diamondbacks receive:
- LF Jarren Duran
Boston Red Sox receive:
- SS Jordan Lawlar
"Duran is in his prime and under club control for two more seasons after 2026," writes Rymer, though it could certainly be argued that he's not performing as such this season.
But the D-Backs' situation in left field (24th in MLB in OPS, 25th in HR, and 25th in slugging) is so poor that even a diminished Duran could be a help. He does still have 12 homers and 12 stolen bases, with the clear potential of a 20-20 or even a 25-25 season.
Would Jordan Lawlar be a good return for Jarren Duran in proposed trade?
Lawlar was the D-Backs' No. 1 prospect for two years' running coming into 2026, after being selected with the 6th overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft. He's only spent 12 games in the majors this year, but was showing some serious promise, batting .316 with a .409 on-base pct. and an .856 OPS. Unfortunately, the shortstop's rookie season was put on hold when he suffered a strained right hamstring and went on the IL on June 19.
The knock against Lawlar is that he's also missed significant developmental time over the past two minor league seasons due to similar hamstring issues.
