3 Minnesota Twins Who Will 'Absolutely' Be On Trade Block

The Minnesota Twins surprisingly found themselves in the conversation for an American League Wild Card spot a few weeks back. But as is usually the case, teams find their level, and for the Twins, they've found theirs: on the outside looking in.

The Twins are now sitting 4.0 games back of a WC spot, at 31-39, with some very good teams ahead of them. Now that summer is just about here, they need to start thinking about selling once again. And while there could be as many as 9 or 10 players that they would consider dealing, according to Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report, there are three Twins who will "absolutely" be on the trade block:

Ryan Jeffers, C

The Twins' backstop has been out for three weeks with the dreaded broken hamate bone, but he still leads all MLB catchers with a .953 OPS this season. He's batting .295 with a terrific .408 on-base and .541 slugging pct. The New York Yankees have been pegged as a suitor for Jeffers, per Joel Sherman. Jeffers is on an expiring contract, so he's prime trade fodder for the Twins.

Josh Bell a certainty to be traded for the 4th time in 5 seasons

Josh Bell, 1B/DH

Has there been any season this decade when Josh Bell has NOT been a definitive trade candidate at the deadline? Well, to be honest, yes, last year he lasted the entire season with the Washington Nationals. But this year it'll be deadline deal time again for Bell, though he's off to a slow start with a .648 OPS and just seven homers. He, too, will be a free agent after the season if either he or the Twins decline a mutual option at $10M. The guessing here is that the Twins, or whoever he winds up with, will decline.

Taylor Rogers, LH reliever

Another pending free agent, Rogers is back with Minny this season after spending the first six years of his career there. He was an All-Star with the Twins in 2021. He's not quite at that level anymore, with a 4.78 ERA this season. But the 35-year-old has a history of being a decent contributor in the later innings. Certainly, the Twins will try to see if there's a team that still values him that way.
