MLB Trade Rumors: Next 3 SF Giants To Be Moved After First Shoe Drops

The San Francisco Giants pulled off a somewhat shocking move today, shipping out their two-time Gold Glove catcher for a draft pick and a prospect. Buried in last place in the NL West, this could signal a selling spree for San Francisco, as they have little to no chance of catching the LA Dodgers or San Diego Padres in their division, and they already have eight teams ahead of them in the Wild Card chase.

That being said, let's have a look at the next three Giants that could be shipped out of town.

Robbie Ray

Set to become a free agent after the season, the Giants should capitalize and cash in with a nice return for the former Cy Young winner. Ray is off to an excellent start to the 2026 season, with a 2.76 ERA and a 47:18 strikeout to walk ratio. He's also coming off his second All-Star season last year. Contenders will be lining up to try to nab the left-hander if the Giants make him available.

Tyler Mahle

Another starting pitcher who becomes a free agent after the season, Mahle will not command the return on the trade market that Robbie Ray will. But some teams will take a look at the 2.18 ERA he posted last year in 16 starts for the Texas Rangers, and hope that the 31-year-old can return to that level of success. He currently has a 5.00 ERA in seven starts, and is walking far too many batters, at 4.5 per nine innings.

Adrian Houser

Yet another member of the rotation who could/should be on the outs in San Fran. Houser has one more year to run on his deal, at $11M. He, too, has struggled out of the gate with an ugly 6.19 ERA. But he has been a serviceable back-end of the rotation starter through most of his career, with a 4.16 ERA overall. Last season, he posted a nice 3.30 ERA in his time split between the White Sox and Rays. The Giants will try to find a taker, but if they can't, he could be DFA'd, as noted by Zachary Rotman, and they'd have to eat the rest of his contract.
