MLB Trade Rumors: 2-Time All-Star Tyler Anderson Linked to NL East Team

There are a number of teams around the major leagues who are starting to feel the pinch of needing another arm to throw some innings. Left-hander Tyler Anderson is one of the top free agents out there for those in need.

The 36-year-old is a two-time All-Star over the past four seasons, having made at least 25 starts in each of those years. He is, however, coming off a poor 2025, with a 4.56 ERA, which was even worse over his final 15 starts (5.50 ERA).

But for a team in need of a southpaw, it doesn't get better out on the thin market right now than Anderson.

Braves should sign lefty free agent Tyler Anderson

To that end, Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report has linked Anderson to the Atlanta Braves as a landing spot.

"As everyone should be well aware by now, Atlanta's rotation has been decimated by injuries," writes Rymer. Of course, the team has somehow put together MLB's fourth-best rotation ERA to this point, at 2.79. But Rymer says we should take that "with a boulder of salt."

With Spencer Schwellenbach, Spencer Strider and Hurston Waldrep on the IL, the Braves are relying on the unexpected sensational performances thus far of their fourth & fifth starters Bryce Elder (0.00 ERA through two starts) and Grant Holmes (2.55 ERA in three starts).

"A boulder of salt," indeed.

If the Braves were being proactive, "Anderson would be a depth piece for them to stash in the minors until he's needed. At best, he could step right into their rotation as soon as he's ramped up," writes Rymer.

Blue Jays another option for Tyler Anderson

Another team to keep a potential eye on for Anderson in the coming weeks, if the Braves don't bite, is the Toronto Blue Jays.

No rotation has been hit harder by injuries thus far than Toronto's. They recently dipped into the shallow end of the free agent pool to sign veteran lefty Patrick Corbin. But it's quite possible that once they see him pitch (5.47 ERA over the last five seasons), they might turn to Anderson as another option.

Anderson has certainly had his ups and downs over the past few years, but at least there have been some 'ups', which can't really be said about Corbin.
