MLB Rumors: Red Sox Linked to Twins All-Star Starting Pitcher
The Boston Red Sox have certainly been struggling out of the gate this season, as they have a 7-11 record and are at the bottom of the American League East standings. When noting that they entered the season with the expectation of building off their strong 2025 campaign, it is clear that the Red Sox have been disappointing big time.
As a result of this, it would not be surprising in the slightest if the Red Sox look to add to their roster early on this season. Despite their poor record, they only trail the first-place Tampa Bay Rays by three games in the AL East. Thus, the Red Sox's chances of turning things around are certainly still there.
When looking at the Red Sox's current roster, it is clear that they could use another impactful starting pitcher in their rotation. Because of this, they are now being linked to one of the top trade candidate pitchers in the league.
In a recent article for Sports Illustrated, Patrick McAvoy named the Red Sox as a potential landing spot for Minnesota Twins pitcher Joe Ryan.
With the Red Sox needing another starting pitcher, adding Ryan would undoubtedly make sense for Boston. He would give them another All-Star starter to work with and would fit nicely in the top half of their rotation if acquired.
Ryan has appeared in four games this season with the Twins, where he has a 2-1 record, a 3.80 ERA, and 22 strikeouts. This is after he had a 13-10 record, a 3.42 ERA, and 194 strikeouts during his All-Star season in 2025.
