MLB Rumors: Ex-Red Sox SP Lucas Giolito Linked to NL East Team

Lucas Giolito, Boston Red Sox

While the 2026 season is already underway, Lucas Giolito still remains a free agent. This is after the 6-foot-6 righty had a strong 2025 season with the Boston Red Sox. In 26 games with the Red Sox during this past campaign, he had a 10-4 record, a 3.41 ERA, and 121 strikeouts.

With Giolito coming off a solid campaign, it should not take him much longer to find his new home. Teams are always on the hunt for pitching help, and the former All-Star is a proven, solid starter with plenty of experience.

Due to this, a team in the National League East is now being linked to Giolito as we approach the middle of April.

In a recent article for Bleacher Report, Zachary D. Rymer named the Atlanta Braves as the "best landing spot" for Giolito.

It is easy to understand why the Braves are being viewed as a prime potential destination for Giolito. They have been bitten by the injury bug badly when it comes to their rotation early on. Because of this, they certainly could use a starter like Giolito on their roster right now, and it would not be surprising if they pursued him.

If the Braves signed Giolito, he would slot nicely in the bottom half of their rotation. Given all of their injury trouble this season, they should not be afraid to sign Giolito to a short-term deal. Let's see if they end up doing just that from here.
