Breaking: Blue Jays George Springer to Miss Time With Fracture
And the injuries just continue to mount for the Toronto Blue Jays. Already without four starting pitchers, their starting catcher and starting right fielder, we can add DH Springer to the list.

After fouling a ball of his foot, Springer has been diagnosed with a fractured left big toe, forcing him from Saturday's game against the Minnesota Twins.
No word yet on how long Springer could be out, but there is already some buzz on social media about the possibility of former top prospect Eloy Jimenez, who is at Triple-A, being given a chance with Toronto.
Jimenez was picked up late last season by the Jays for a minor league look-see, and so far in 2026 with Buffalo, he's batting .281 with a homer and five RBIs in 10 games, with a .775 OPS. Jimenez crushed 31 homers in his rookie season with the Chicago White Sox in 2019, and finished 4th in ROY voting. But he has gradually fallen off a cliff since then, to the point that he couldn't find his way back to the majors at all in 2025.
As for Springer, he is in the final year of his six-year deal with the Blue Jays. He was batting just .189 through 13 games, with two long balls and six RBIs.
The Jays' injured list now includes:
- George Springer
- Alejandro Kirk
- Addison Barger
- Cody Ponce
- Trey Yesavage
- Jose Berrios
- Shane Bieber
