Insider Names Most Likely Trade Destination for Astros' Isaac Paredes
Red Sox and Isaac Paredes still look like a clean match
Rosenthal laid it out on the Crush City Territory podcast, basically saying the roster problems line up perfectly.
The Astros have too many infield bats fighting for spots, while the Red Sox have the opposite issue with a crowded outfield and real uncertainty on the dirt, making Paredes feel like the type of move that solves two headaches at once.
Rosenthal’s line was: “outfield surplus, infield shortage” for Boston, and that’s why he called it an obvious fit.
"It's a logjam that needs to be resolved."

The Astros need to find a way to trade Isaac Paredes, says @Ken_Rosenthal. pic.twitter.com/fRLqDCU74B
Paredes is exactly the kind of right-handed pull power bat that plays at Fenway Park. He’s a two-time All-Star who hit 20 home runs last season with an .809 OPS, he’s entering his age-27 season, and the bat is real enough that Houston can argue it deserves an everyday role even if the roster says otherwise.
Ken Rosenthal hints Jarren Duran could be the trade chip
Rosenthal has suggested that if this ever gets real, the Houston Astros are going to want a left-handed hitting outfielder, and the name that keeps surfacing is Jarren Duran rather than Wilyer Abreu.
What's going on with Isaac Paredes? 🤔

Boston’s outfield depth is legitimate with Duran, Abreu, Ceddanne Rafaela, and top prospect Roman Anthony all pushing for everyday reps, while the infield has been more patchwork after the club pivoted by acquiring Caleb Durbin.
That Durbin move also changed the leverage, because it means the Red Sox can walk away if Houston’s ask gets too rich, and Rosenthal has noted the teams have not been in recent contact since that deal.
