Pete Crow-Armstrong Signs Massive Extension With Chicago Cubs

Coming off a huge 30-30 season and his first All-Star selection, Pete Crow-Armstrong has re-upped with the Chicago Cubs on a massive extension.

Jeff Passan is reporting it's a six-year, $115 million contract extension. The deal starts in 2027 and does not include a club option, allowing Crow-Armstrong to hit free agency before his age-31 season. That buys out two free agent years. Nightengale adds that with escalators, it could be as high as $133 million.

PCA became the first Cubs player in history last year to reach 30 home runs, 30 doubles and 30 stolen bases in the same season.

Crow-Armstrong came to Cubs in Javy Baez trade in 2021

Crow-Armstrong was acquired by the Cubs back at the 2021 trade deadline, as the NY Mets’ No. 5 prospect at the time, in return for Javy Baez and pitcher Trevor Williams (yes, that was a pretty good deal for the North Siders).

In 2025, PCA exploded out of the gate with 27 homers and 29 steals by the end of July, with a .272 average and .868 OPS. He cooled off in August and September, but still finished with 31 homers, 95 RBIs, 35 stolen bases and a .247/.287/.481 slash line, for a .768 OPS and a 118 OPS+. He also did it on the defensive side of the ball as well, earning his first Gold Glove award.

Per Nightengale, the Cubs tried to lock up Crow-Armstrong a year ago with a $66 million offer, but the player obviously made the right move waiting and putting up a breakout season. With his new $100++ deal, he will now be with the Cubs into the early 2030s.
