The Boston Red Sox have snagged one of the more notable relief arms remaining on the free agent market, signing high-leverage left-hander Danny Coulombe to a major league deal.

It's a one-year, $1 million deal for the 36-year-old.
Coulombe had a dominant season with the Minnesota Twins last year before falling off for 15 innings with the Texas Rangers after the trade deadline. The veteran reliever induces critical, high-leverage outs with a soft-tossing repertoire.
In 31 innings with the Twins, he posted a 1.16 ERA with an 0.96 WHIP, with a 31:9 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
His control abandoned him in 15 innings with Texas later in the year.
On his career, across 11 seasons and 316 innings, Coulombe has compiled a 3.35 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP and five saves.
