Breaking: Blue Jays Get Ominous Diagnosis on Cody Ponce
It was a weird sort of injury. Stumbling and falling on the mound while making a pitch, then stumbling and hyperextending his knee while running to make a play at first base. Now we get the first diagnosis of Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Cody Ponce's injury.
Cody Ponce suffered a right ACL sprain, will miss significant time, said Blue Jays manager John Schneider. Waiting for a couple more opinions before exact course is charted.

Ponce suffered a right ACL sprain and will miss "significant time", according to Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Ponce was carted off the field, and looked in extreme pain. Physically and mentally.
But the news could get even worse: The 31-year-old pitcher is still having his MRI reviewed by more specialists for the final diagnosis to see if there’s a full tear.
Schneider says the Jays are “holding onto” hope he can pitch again this year, per mlb.com's Keegan Matheson. Yikes. That's an ominous response.
Ponce was returning to the major leagues this season after breaking out for an MVP season in Korea last year, and signed a three-year, $30M contract with the Jays this past offseason.
But he was able to pitch only into the third inning of his first start before the succession of awkward troubles began.
