MLB Trade Rumors: Top 3 Destinations For Red Sox OF Jarren Duran
Despite a scary-looking collision in the Boston Red Sox outfield on Friday, the team still has a logjam of legit players out there. Roman Anthony, Rafael Ceddanne, Wilyer Abreu and Jarren Duran. That's four starters for three spots. And that's without taking Masataka Yoshida into consideration.
Duran has been on the rumor mill as a trade candidate for about a year now, going back to early last season. He was heavily linked to the San Diego Padres for a time, but he wound up staying the course in Boston, and finished the 2025 season in Fenway.
But that hasn't stopped the rumors from circulating. The Red Sox could deal from a position of strength using Duran, and with that, we look at the top 3 potential trade destinations for the 2024 All-Star, with the help of Zachary Rotman of Fansided.
Philadelphia Phillies
The Phils did a little outfield shuffling this offseason, ditching Nick Castellanos and bringing in Adolis Garcia as a free agent. Garcia had a wretched 2025, as his numbers have steadily declined for the past few years. He was a below-average hitter for the second straight season last year, with a 93 OPS+ (a woeful .665 OPS), while batting .227 with a .271 on-base pct, and 19 home runs.
In addition, 22-year-old rookie Justin Crawford is expected to step right into the lineup and take over center field. Sure, he tore it up in Triple-A last year, batting .334 with 46 stolen bases. But at that young age, are we sure he's a sure-fire lock to last the year? How about giving the kid some veteran mentorship with a Jarren Duran?
Seattle Mariners
The M's are counting on Victor Robles in left field. That's a sketchy proposition at best. Yes, he had a brilliant half-season coming over to Seattle in 2024, batting .328 and stealing 30 bases. But in 2025, that all came crashing down. A shoulder injury, a suspension for bat-throwing in the minors, and a miserable .611 OPS in his 32 games at the big league level leave him as a huge question mark in the outfield. He has a career .687 OPS.
The Mariners are determined to take the next step this season, after a crushing defeat in Game 7 of the ALCS last year at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays. Rolling the dice on Robles seems like too much of a gamble for this "all-in" team. Duran would be a huge upgrade.
Kansas City Royals
The Royals are hoping to take that next step this season, and take advantage of Bobby Witt Jr.'s superstar prime. They went out and added Isaac Collins and Lane Thomas in the offseason, but with the likes of Kyle Isbel and youngster Jac Caglianone (.157 in 62 games last year) slated to play in the outfield, Duran would be a huge improvement on that group.
And as Rotman notes, KC has the assets to make a deal here. "The Royals have a plethora of starting pitchers to get the Red Sox interested. They've long made sense as trade partners, and it wouldn't be shocking to see one come to fruition."
