MLB Rumors: 3 Landing Spots for 'Hot' Free Agent Pitcher Zach Littell
While all the big bats have pretty much been scooped up off the free agent market, there are still a number of pitchers who could make an impact for teams.
Some are older, some are younger, but smack dab in the middle is a pitcher who had some fine numbers to take with him into free agency.
Insider Robert Murray tells us that Zach Littell is a hot name out there right now.
The other guy that has a hot market is Zach Littell. He's drawing pretty strong interest throughout the league.
The 30-year-old right-hander had a fine season in 2025, split between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Cincinnati Reds. He posted a 3.81 ERA, with a 1.10 WHIP, and held a 130:32 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 186.2 innings.
Let's have a look at three teams that make sense as landing spots for Littell.
LA Angels
"I still think the LA Angels make a tremendous amount of sense for him as they continue to explore different rotation possibilities," said Murray.
The Angels have been very creative, if nothing else, this offseason in reshaping their pitching staff. They've brought in a few low-risk, high-upside arms in former All-Star Alek Manoah, and former top prospect Grayson Rodriguez. Littell would be a sneaky-good addition as well.
Athletics
Another team that doesn't shop in the high-rent district of free agency, Littell should fall right into the A's comfort zone, contract-wise. As for their rotation, they could certainly use another dependable, reliable arm. They currently have Luis Severino and Jeffery Springs at the top end of their starting staff, but beyond that, it's slim pickings as far as sure things.
Tampa Bay Rays
Why not a third stint in Tampa? Littell has had plenty of success in his two previous go-rounds with the Rays, posting a 3.68 ERA in parts of three seasons with the club, including the first half of last year. Tim Kelly of Bleacher Report suggests the Rays as the ideal fit for another reunion with Littell. It was reported earlier in the offseason that the Rays had interest in bringing him back.
