Breaking: Brewers Sign ex-Yankees 2-Time All-Star
Going into his 12th major league season, his All-Star days are a distant memory at this point, but slugging catcher Gary Sanchez is still finding himself a job, one year at a time. In 2026, he'll have a reunion with the Milwaukee Brewers, with whom he spent the 2024 season as well.

It's a one-year, $1.75 million deal for the backstop in Milwaukee.
Sanchez started his career with a bang with the New York Yankees, finishing second in AL Rookie of the Year voting in 2016 despite playing only half the season. He launched 20 homers in only 200 at-bats.
That carried over into 2017, when Sanchez was named to the first of his two All-Star teams, blasting 33 homers with 90 RBIs for the Bronx Bombers. After an injury-plagued year in 2018, he bounced back with another 34 home run campaign in 2019. But the batting average began to plummet, and it has never recovered since then.
Last year with the Baltimore Orioles, his 5th team in four years since leaving the Yankees, Sanchez batted .231 with only five homers in 100 at-bats and a .715 OPS.
The Brewers will give him another go, even though his 2024 campaign with them saw him hit 11 long balls with a .220 average and a .699 OPS. He'll once again back up William Contreras.
In his 11 MLB seasons, Sánchez has a .224 average with a .309 on-base percentage, 189 homers and 509 RBIs in 859 career regular-season games. In addition to the Yankees, Brewers and Orioles, he's also played for the Minnesota Twins, New York Mets, and San Diego Padres.
