In return, the Yankees send OF Dillon Lewis, OF Brendan Jones, IF Dillon Jason and IF Juan Matheus to Miami. Lewis, the Yankees' No. 16 prospect, was a player that the Marlins were interested in while discussing Edward Cabrera with the Yanks. The Fish ultimately got a tough offer to beat from the Chicago Cubs and sent Cabrera to the Windy City.
Ryan Weathers's fastball topped out at 98.8 mph last year, but he was only able to make eight starts due to a forearm strain and a lat strain at different points of the season. He posted a 3.99 ERA. He registered a 3.66 ERA in 16 starts with Miami in 2024, establishing himself as a top young arm.

It's a family reunion of sorts, as Ryan Weathers will now pitch for the Yankees just as his father did in 1996 and 1997.
