MLB Rumors: Yankees Looking To Move Off Of Jazz Chisholm Jr.?

New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. hits a home run during 2025 game.

Jazz Chisholm trade chatter is officially on the radar after a solid 2025, and it is not hard to see why rival teams are calling.

The New York Yankees are not shopping him, but Brian Cashman made it clear they will listen if the right proposal helps them level up, especially on the pitching side.

Jazz Chisholm trade interest rises after his 30-30 season

Chisholm just put himself in a rare Yankees lane with a 30 homer, 30 steal season, and the profile plays everywhere. He brings athleticism, speed, defense, and real pop, plus he is entering his final year of arbitration before free agency after 2026.

Even if New York loves the player, other clubs see a chance to buy one year of a high impact second baseman who can change a lineup and a clubhouse.

During his tenure with the Yankees, the 27-year-old has posted a .251/.330/.486 triple-slash line, with 42 home runs, 103 RBIs, 49 stolen bases, and 103 runs scored across 176 games.

Why the New York Yankees could actually listen on Jazz Chisholm

Cashman’s “open-minded” line sounds like classic front office language, but the context makes things interesting. The Yankees want pitching upgrades and they also know their lineup leans left, so a creative trade idea could tempt them.

At the same time, moving Chisholm would open a hole in the infield, and that gets complicated fast if Anthony Volpe’s health is a question to open 2026.

The extension angle is the quiet piece here. Chisholm has said he would be open to talks, but the Yankees usually let these things play out, for better or worse, and that reality keeps the door cracked.

If New York believes they cannot keep him long term, listening now is just smart business, even if the most likely outcome is still Jazz in pinstripes on Opening Day.
