MLB Rumors: Top 3 Outfielders in Free Agency This Winter (& Projected Contract)

As free agency is set to get into full swing now that the World Series is done, it's time to have a look at the top players available at each position. Outfield is where two of the biggest names of all reside, and where some big money will be doled out.

These are the Top 3 Outfielders available in free agency this winter:

Kyle Tucker, Chicago Cubs

Is he in line for a $400 million contract? That's been the big debate. His blistering start to the season in April seemed to assure Tucker of that kind of a payday, though he did have a rather pedestrian second half—for him, at least. Tucker finished the 2025 season with the Cubs with an .841 OPS, 22 homers and 73 RBIs in 136 games.

It doesn't seem like the Cubs will spend that kind of money to keep him, but some other big spenders, like the Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers, are likely to take a run at him.

Sportrac has projected him to just top that vaunted $400M mark, with a Market Value of a 10-year deal for $401.8M.

Cody Bellinger, NY Yankees

Bellinger had another renaissance year in his first season in the Bronx. The former NL MVP blasted 29 home runs with 98 RBIs with an .813 OPS, and is able to play first base or outfield. One Yankees insider has already suggested that the team absolutely needs to keep him, but there will be others making a big pitch.

Sportrac projects Bellinger to reel in a 6-year deal in free agency, worth $182.7M.

Trent Grisham, NY Yankees

Belli's outfield colleague from this season, Trent Grisham, picked a great time to have a career year. He goes into free agency having literally doubled his previous career high in homers, with 34, while posting other career bests like 74 RBIs as primarily a leadoff man, 87 runs, and an .811 OPS.

But buyer beware, as the 29-year-old has never come close to numbers like that previously in his career.

Sportrac has him projected to land a four-year deal worth $48.4 million
