MLB Rumors: Top 3 Free Agent Landing Spots For Bo Bichette

Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Bo Bichette rounds the bases after hitting a home run during 2025 game.

Bo Bichette landing spots will drive the offseason conversation after his bounce-back year (.311/.357/.483 with 18 HR).

With most contenders already set at shortstop, the best fits are the clubs that value his elite contact profile and can live with a position shuffle if needed.

Contracts projected in the 8-year, $190–$220 million range feel realistic given his age and bat-to-ball skills.

Toronto Blue Jays

A reunion still checks the most boxes.

Bichette is a proven October bat in Toronto and just authored a healthy rebound season before returning for the World Series run. The Blue Jays know the player, the market, and the medicals, and they can structure a deal that balances length and AAV (backloading is plausible as other big salaries roll off).

If the club leans defense-first at shortstop in 2026, they can still keep Bichette’s bat in the infield by sliding him to second or third as needed.

Detroit Tigers

With second base open and shortstop production volatile late in 2025, Bichette can start at short for Detroit immediately and later transition to second if top prospect timelines or roster moves dictate.

The Tigers have payroll space to support an eight-year commitment and a young core that would benefit from a high-contact anchor near the top of the order.

If they pass on Alex Bregman, Bichette becomes the clearest way to raise the offensive floor while preserving future infield optionality.

New York Yankees

The New York Yankees can upgrade now and plan for tomorrow. Anthony Volpe’s glove plays, but the bat has leveled off, and New York needs a consistent on-base threat ahead of Aaron Judge.

Bichette could open at short and shift to second when top prospect timelines, like George Lombard Jr., collide with the big-league roster. The payroll room exists to absorb a nine-figure deal, and the fit is straightforward.

If the Yankees choose a premium bat over a marquee arm, Bichette is the move. Would Bichette choose the Yankees? That is the only question.
