Minnesota Twins Claim Versatile Outfielder Off Waivers

Detroit Tigers outfielder Ryan Kreidler reacts during 2025 game.

The Minnesota Twins grabbed Ryan Kreidler off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates as 40-man reshuffling ramps up.

Kreidler brings defensive flexibility across shortstop, third base, second base, and center field, plus above-average athletic traits. The bat has lagged at the major-league level, but his minor-league track record shows enough on-base ability and occasional pop to justify a look for a club evaluating inexpensive depth.

What it means for the Twins’ offseason plan

Kreidler is out of options, so his spring performance will matter. If he handles the glove work and finds even league-adjacent contact quality, he can stick as a utility piece.

If not, the claim is a reversible move that costs little while the Twins gauge broader depth ahead of next season.

For his minor-league career, the 27-year-old has slashed .236/.342/.401, with 54 home runs, 207 RBIs, 78 stolen bases, and 261 runs scored across 466 games played.
