New York Mets Sign Pitcher With Solid Numbers This Season
The New York Mets added bullpen insurance on Saturday, signing left-handed pitcher Joe La Sorsa to a minor league deal.
La Sorsa elected free agency earlier this week after being designated for assignment by the Cincinnati Reds and clearing waivers. He will report to Triple-A Syracuse as the Mets continue to shuffle arms while chasing a postseason spot.

Owns a 2.82 ERA in AAA this year and made five appearances for the Reds. Has 46 total games of MLB experience with the Rays, Nats and Reds.
Mets Sign Lefty Reliever Joe La Sorsa
La Sorsa, 27, has seen limited MLB action this year, posting a 10.80 ERA over five appearances with Cincinnati. Most of his success has come in Triple-A Louisville, where he recorded a 2.82 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 41 strikeouts across 44.2 innings in 2025.
The New York native previously pitched for the Tampa Bay Rays and Washington Nationals, logging a 4.47 ERA across 50.1 innings from 2023–24, and also represented Italy in the 2023 World Baseball Classic.
