LA Dodgers Add Two-Time Cy Young Winner to the Rotation
They weren't able to add a starter on the trade market, but the Los Angeles Dodgers have made today a better addition than any team in baseball was able to make at the trade deadline, activating two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell.

Snell has been activated by the Dodgers from the injured list and will make his first start on Saturday night since his last one, exactly four months ago, on April 2nd, facing the Tampa Bay Rays. He suffered shoulder inflammation just two outings into his Hollywood career, after signing a huge five-year, $182MM contract with the Dodgers in free agency last winter.
During his minor league rehab assignment over the past several weeks, Snell regained his old form, allowing just two runs in 13⅔ innings with 24 strikeouts against just five walks across four starts at three different levels.
He joins Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow at the top of the LA rotation, with Shohei Ohtani still being stretched out to eventually, they hope, reach a full starter's load.
Snell missed a lot of time last season as well, while with the San Francisco Giants, but his return in the second half of the year was off the charts, as he allowed only 12 runs in his 14 starts, with a sensational 1.23 ERA. The Dodgers are hoping for a similar type of return this season.
He has Cy Young awards in each league, in 2018 in the AL with the Tampa Bay Rays, and then with the San Diego Padres in the NL in 2023. In his career, he's 77-58 with a 3.18 ERA with an all-time career record 11.2 strikeouts per nine innings.
