2 Guardians Pitchers Now Finished for the Season Due to Gambling Investigation

The news keeps getting worse for Cleveland Gaurdians closer Emmanuel Clase and fellow hurler Luis Ortiz. MLB has now ensured that the two pitchers will not be coming back this season, extending their administrative leave indefinitely.

Clase, the elite closer, was one of the top trade candidates this season, but days before the trade deadline, he was placed on paid leave until the end of August while major league baseball conducted their illegal gambling investigation.

Now, he and Ortiz are done "until further notice" as the enquiry continues into any potential crimes being committed by the pitchers.

As for Clase, 27, the three-time All-Star had a 3.23 ERA and 24 saves this season, following three straight years with 40+ saves.

Ortiz had a 4.36 ERA in 16 starts for Cleveland, with a 1.38 WHIP and 9.7 K/9. It's the 26-year-old's fourth major league season.
