MLB Trade Rumors: Jeff Passan Reveals Top 5 Most Likely to be Traded List (With % Chance of Being Dealt)

Eugenio Suarez is the most likely top player to be traded at MLB deadline
As we get closer to the trade deadline, just over a week away, we've heard plenty of names floated out there, but how do we make sense of who will or won't actually be donning new threads come the end of the month?

Insider Jeff Passan has revealed his list of the top trade candidates, and has provided a percentage likelihood of each one actually being dealt. Let's look now at the Top 5 Most Likely To Be Traded List:

  1. Eugenio Suarez, 3B, Arizona Diamondbacks — 90% chance
  2. Ryan O'Hearn, 1B, Baltimore Orioles — 85%
  3. Seth Lugo, RHP, Kansas City Royals — 80%
  4. Merrill Kelly, RHP, Arizona Diamondbacks — 70%
  5. Josh Naylor, 1B, Arizona Diamondbacks — 70%
  6. Marcell Ozuna, DH, Atlanta Braves — 70%

The Top 5 is actually a Top 6, as there's a three-way tie for 4th, with Merrill Kelly and Josh Naylor being two of the three D-Backs on this list. The team is 5.5 games back of a Wild Card spot, but the Chicago Cubs, New York Mets and San Diego Padres feel like they are eons ahead of the Snakes, and it's felt that Arizona could easily trade any of those expiring contracts.

At the top of the list, with a 90% of getting dealt, is the D-Backs' slugging third baseman Suarez. He came out of the All-Star Break sizzling on full-bake, with five home runs in his last three games, putting him at 36 on the season, tied with Aaron Judge and just two off the major league lead of 38, held by Cal Raleigh.

The Seattle Mariners are creeping to the top of the list of suitors, though the New York Yankees are right there as well. Both are desperate to fill third base voids and boost their playoff hopes.

O'Hearn has been near the top of everyone's trade lists all season, as the Orioles seem like a sure seller, and O'Hearn is having a career year.

Lugo is a pending free agent (if he declines his $15M player option, as expected), and the Royals are unlikely to bid on the 35-year-old in the offseason.
