Bryan Reynolds' No-Trade List Revealed: Includes 6 Elite Teams

Bryan Reynolds has odd no-trade list
Normally, players aren't interested in being traded to last-place teams, or clubs in small markets that don't spend a lot of money. But in a surprising revelation, we've learned that Pittsburgh Pirates' two-time All-Star outfielder Bryan Reynolds actually has a 6-team no-trade list that reads like the Who's Who of baseball.

Noah Hiles writes in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (h/t Bleacher Report) that Reynolds' no-trade clause lists the following teams:

  • New York Yankees
  • New York Mets
  • Los Angeles Dodgers
  • San Francisco Giants
  • San Diego Padres
  • Toronto Blue Jays

Pretty much six of the biggest markets in all of the major leagues. And they're all in first or second place (the Giants & Padres tied for 2nd behind the Dodgers).

Safe to say that Reynolds is not a fan of the bright lights & big city.

There are still several contenders out there that the Pirates' outfielder could land with, including the Philadelphia Phillies atop the NL East, the Chicago Cubs & Milwaukee Brewers, 1st & 2nd in the NL Central, the Tampa Bay Rays, who are 3rd in the AL East and firmly in the Wild Card hunt, the Detroit Tigers atop the AL Central (who actually own the best record in all of baseball), and the Houston Astros and Seattle Mariners in the AL West.

We heard this past week about one team that is in deep talks with the Pirates on a trade, but that club isn't currently a playoff contender (though they fancy themselves as one).

If the Pirates do trade Reynolds, it could be an unfortunate sell-low situation, as he's hitting just .229 with a .674 OPS, 10 homers and 45 RBIs. Add to that the fact that so many contenders could be persona non grata, and that could make it difficult for the Bucs to extract the best package.
