Breaking Trade: Reds & Pirates Complete Trade for Infielder
The Pittsburgh Pirates sell-off is underway as they have traded third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes to the Cincinnati Reds.
The Reds are acquiring Ke’Brayan Hayes from the Pirates, sources tell me, @m_sheldon and @AlexJStumpf.

In exchange, the Reds send reliever Taylor Rogers and shortstop prospect Sammy Stafura to Pittsburgh.
Insider Jon Morosi reports that the Reds aren't done yet, as they are also working to add pitching before Thursday's trade deadline.
Hayes was once a top prospect for the Pirates, and looked to be a cornerstone (at the hot corner) for the team going into the future. The Bucos even handed out a contract much more sizeable than they're comfortable with, giving Hayes an eight-year, $70 million deal in 2022. But he hasn't performed up to those expectations.
He is a very good glove man at third, so that will certainly help the Reds' infield defense. At the plate this year, however, he has a .236 average with a woeful .569 OPS and just two home runs. He has stolen 10 bases.
Taylor Rogers' time in Pittsburgh is likely to be short, as they will likely try to flip the reliever ahead of Thursday's 6pm deadline. The 34-year-old lefty had a 2.45 ERA with Cinci this season, and has a 3.28 career ERA with 83 saves and a 10.4 K/9.
