BREAKING: Dodgers & Red Sox Complete Trade

In a last-minute trade, the Boston Red Sox are finally getting a starting pitcher, as they have acquired Dustin May from the Los Angeles Dodgers.

In return, the Dodgers are acquiring outfielder James Tibbs III (BOS 5th ranked prospect) and Zach Ehrhard (BOS 27th ranked prospect) from the Red Sox.

Boston Adds Needed Rotation Depth

May, 27, has pitched a career-high 104 innings this season, going 6-7 with a 4.85 ERA, 97 strikeouts, and 43 walks in 18 starts. Once one of baseball’s most highly regarded young arms, May has battled multiple injuries, including Tommy John surgery, but has remained durable in 2025.

His addition gives the Red Sox a stronger rotation as they chase both an AL Wild Card berth and the division-leading Toronto Blue Jays.

Tibbs, Boston’s No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline, and Ehrhard, ranked No. 27, give the Dodgers two promising outfielders as they prepare for their postseason push.

With Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki expected to return from injury soon, Los Angeles saw May as expendable, making the deal to add to their future outfield depth.
