MLB Rumors: Braves Make Two Players Available For Trade

Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker walks out to the mound during 2025 game.

The Atlanta Braves are officially listening to offers on designated hitter Marcell Ozuna and closer Raisel Iglesias ahead of the July 31 trade deadline, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

Braves exploring Marcell Ozuna, Raisel Iglesias trades

While the Braves have resisted a full teardown, their disappointing 42-52 record has forced general manager Alex Anthopoulos to reconsider his approach. Both Ozuna and Iglesias are pending free agents and viewed as expendable, though Ozuna holds 10-and-5 rights and can veto any deal.

Ozuna, 34, has cooled off after back-to-back 35+ homer seasons, slashing .239/.367/.390 with 13 home runs and 42 RBIs through 89 games. Despite his dip in production, his power makes him a viable rental option for contenders in need of a designated hitter. However, with his trade veto power and off-field baggage, moving Ozuna may not be straightforward. He’s in the final year of a deal that includes a $16 million club option the Braves exercised last winter.

Iglesias, 35, has also regressed, owning a 4.42 ERA and allowing more hits than innings pitched. While he was once a lockdown late-inning arm, his declining effectiveness limits his value. Still, a team short on bullpen depth might take a shot on a veteran with closing experience.
