MLB Trade Rumors: Red Sox Linked To Brewers Slugger

Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins reacts after at-bat during 2025 game.

The Boston Red Sox are in desperate need of a spark, and Rhys Hoskins might be the answer.

With a 34–36 record and a Wild Card spot slowly slipping out of reach, Boston is in the midst of a season of frustration fueled by narrow losses and the devastating injury to Triston Casas. The team has been unable to find consistency at first base, and with the trade deadline looming, Milwaukee’s Hoskins has emerged as a potential lifeline.

Despite a recent slump, the 32-year-old slugger owns a .787 OPS with 10 home runs, and his right-handed, pull-heavy swing is tailor-made for Fenway Park.

A Perfect Fit for Fenway — If the Price Is Right

Hoskins is in the final year of a two-year, $34 million deal with an $18 million mutual option for 2026. He’s been solid after returning from a torn ACL, and Boston’s need at first base makes him a strong target, especially if the Brewers are willing to deal.

The Brewers, just 5.5 games out in the NL Central, may still move Hoskins to get ahead of his free agency. If Boston can offer cost-controlled players, like prospects or even Jarren Duran or Wilyer Abreu, it could be the kind of strategic deal that GM Matt Arnold has mastered.

Will the Red Sox Pull the Trigger?

The Red Sox face a classic buy-or-sell dilemma. They’re 3.5 games out of a Wild Card spot and must show enough promise in the coming weeks to justify a deal. Hoskins may not be a long-term cornerstone, but he could be a short-term savior.

His postseason experience and power bat would immediately elevate Boston’s offense. If the front office believes this season can still be salvaged, acquiring Hoskins could mark the bold shift they need to revitalize their 2025 season.
