MLB Rumors: Phillies Linked To Trade For Pirates' All-Star Outfielder
Bryan Reynolds may not be having a career year, but that hasn’t stopped the Philadelphia Phillies from circling him as a trade target.
Despite a pretty poor .233/.309/.376 slash line this season, Reynolds’ track record, including four straight seasons with 24+ homers and 80+ RBI, makes him an intriguing long-term fix for a Phillies outfield that’s lacked impact production.
A Long-Term Answer to Phillies' Outfield Issues
Philadelphia’s outfield depth has been an issue for years, and 2025 is no different. Outside of Nick Castellanos, the group is underwhelming, with Brandon Marsh, Max Kepler, Johan Rojas, and Weston Wilson all failing to meet league-average production. Kepler is on an expiring deal, and Castellanos’ contract runs through 2026, making now the perfect time to bring in Reynolds as a successor and upgrade.
Locked into an eight-year, $106.75 million deal signed in 2023, Reynolds would provide cost certainty and lineup stability through 2030. Even if he’s slumping, his career OPS+ of 121 suggests a rebound could come quickly, especially in a better offensive environment.

Can the Phillies Meet Pittsburgh's Asking Price?
The big unknown is what the Pittsburgh Pirates want in return. With Reynolds being one of their most valuable trade chips, and still just 30 years old, they’ll likely ask for high-upside prospects. The Phillies are in a decent position to deal, with 15 of their top 30 prospects still below Double-A.
For a team dead set on a deep playoff run and desperate for consistent outfield production, giving up future assets for Reynolds may be the bold move that changes everything.
