Guess Who's Injured For the Minnesota Twins... Again?
Here we go again. The Minnesota Twins continue to lead the league in players who just can't stay on the field. The latest injury bug news has knocked both Royce Lewis and Byron Buxton out of the lineup—two players who simply cannot stay on the field.Lewis is set to undergo an MRI on his latest hamstring injury. It occured in the 9th inning of Friday night's game as he was running out what would have been a double, but he couldn't make it any farther than first base, as he came up limping, running down the line.

Lewis had suffered a strain in the same hamstring back in spring training, which delayed his season debut until May 5. Over a month later, he had yet to really get his game in order as he was slashing just .202/.282/.303, though he had picked things up considerably over the week.
The 26-year-old was the first overall pick by the Twins in the 2017 MLB draft, but a non-stop slew of injuries, minor and major, and both in the minors and the major leagues, have left him only able to play 182 games with the Twins over the last four years. He topped out at 82 games last season.
Lewis was ready to explode onto the scene as one of baseball's top prospects before suffering a torn ACL in 2021 that wiped out his entire season. In 2022, after batting .300 with an .867 OPS in 12 games, he suffered another ACL tear that destroyed that season and most of 2023 campaign. His list of ailments has also included oblique, adductor, and quad injuries.
He has a career .258 batting mark, with a .788 OPS, along with 35 home runs and 113 RBIs in 182 games.
And to add insult to injury (or rather, injury to injury?), Minnesota's other Injured List King, Byron Buxton, left their game against the Houston Astros in the seventh inning on Saturday with a bruised left elbow after he was hit by a pitch an inning earlier.
Byron Buxton got drilled on the elbow by a 95 mph sinker from Hunter Brown.

He’s staying in… but that looked brutal.
The Twins cannot afford to lose him again.

He tried staying in the game for an inning, but was then removed.
