Red Sox’ Worst Fears Realized As Casas Diagnosis Is In

When Triston Casas’s leg buckled under him in Friday’s game while crossing the first base bag, it looked ugly, and it looked serious as he was carted off the field. Now the Boston Red Sox’ & Casas’s worst fears have been realized as the diagnosis has come in as a ruptured left patellar tendon.

The injury occurred as Casas was running out an infield squibbler, and as he planted his righ foot on the bag, his left foot tripped over it and the awkward fall resulted in his knee buckling.

As we noted on Friday, it's possible that the Red Sox may replace their former high-end prospect (Casas) on the roster with their current top prospect, Roman Anthony, who also happens to be the top prospect in all of baseball.

If he's called up, Anthony would share time in the outfield and at DH with Jarren Duran and Wilyer Abreu, while current DH Rafael Devers shifts to first base.

Anthony is batting .290 with a .949 OPS and five homers at Triple-A so far this season.
