MLB Trade Rumors: Brewers & Blue Jays Linked To Massive Midseason Trade

Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette hits a double during 2025 game.

With the Toronto Blue Jays hovering around .500 and uncertainty looming over Bo Bichette’s future, trade speculation is heating up—especially with the Milwaukee Brewers emerging as a potential suitor for the star shortstop.

Bichette, 27, is in the final year of his contract and has yet to engage in serious extension talks with the Blue Jays, leading many insiders to believe a deadline deal could be on the horizon if Toronto slips out of contention.

According to multiple reports, the Brewers are one of the teams most interested in landing Bichette. Joey Ortiz, currently manning shortstop for Milwaukee, has struggled mightily at the plate, and the front office may be looking for a short-term upgrade to push the team into postseason success.

What It Would Take to Land Bichette

Toronto president Mark Shapiro and GM Ross Atkins are said to be under pressure this season, and whether the Blue Jays are buyers or sellers could hinge on the next few weeks. Bichette has begun to rediscover his power stroke, belting three home runs over his last 10 games and raising his OPS to .732. That resurgence, paired with his two-time All-Star résumé, makes him an enticing rental despite his expiring deal.

The Brewers are expected to make a serious push if they remain in the playoff picture by late July. Though it’s unclear what a full return package might look like, Milwaukee has the prospect depth and financial flexibility to potentially pursue an extension—if Bichette impresses down the stretch.

For now, the ball is in Toronto’s court, but the buzz around a potential Blue Jays-Brewers blockbuster is only getting louder.
