MLB Rumors: 2 Blue Jays Players Trade Stocks Rising

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider looks on during 2025 game.

As the 2025 MLB season rolls forward, the Toronto Blue Jays are finding themselves at a crossroads.

Despite locking in Vladimir Guerrero Jr. with a long-term extension, rising stars Chris Bassitt and Bo Bichette could be on the move if the team falls out of contention. Bassitt, in particular, has been outstanding, boasting a 1.88 ERA over five starts and leading the league with a remarkable 1.49 FIP.

Analysts like Zachary D. Rymer note that, at 36 years old, Bassitt likely doesn't fit into Toronto’s long-term plans, making him one of the top pitching trade targets if the Blue Jays opt to sell.

Bo Bichette's Resurgence Could Bring a Huge Return
Bo Bichette’s name has been floated in trade talks for a while, but his current performance is making those rumors much louder.

After a down year in 2024, Bichette has bounced back by slashing .298/.339/.375 through the first month of 2025, with a 109 OPS+. Though he hasn’t hit a home run yet, his improved contact rate and lower strikeout percentage have caught the attention of rival teams.

ESPN’s David Schoenfield even predicted that if Toronto slips out of the playoff race, Bichette could be the best position player available at the deadline, potentially netting the Blue Jays a significant return.

Big Decisions Loom for Toronto's Front Office
With Guerrero Jr. secured for the future, Toronto’s front office must now weigh whether to double down for a playoff push or maximize the value of pending free agents.

Chris Bassitt's dominant start and Bo Bichette's return to form have made both players highly attractive trade chips.

If the standings don't break Toronto’s way soon, expect trade talks around Bassitt and Bichette to intensify.
