MLB Trade Rumors: Blue Jays Interested In Angels Slugger

Los Angeles Angels outfielder celebrates after hitting grand slam during 2025 game.

With left field a glaring weakness in their lineup, the Toronto Blue Jays could reportedly be exploring a trade with the Los Angeles Angels for outfielder Taylor Ward.

Multiple reports have linked Toronto to the 30-year-old slugger, who has hit 10 home runs in 2025 despite a sluggish start at the plate.

The Blue Jays are currently rotating through underperforming options in left, including rookie Alan Roden, who was recently demoted to the minors after slashing just .178/.262/.260 in 84 plate appearances. With George Springer and Anthony Santander splitting time between right field and DH, Ward could provide much-needed stability and pop from the left field corner.

Ward’s Contract and Cost Make Him an Attractive Target

Ward is under team control through 2026 and earning $7.825 million this season. While his OPS+ has dipped to 75 through 41 games, his 25-home-run season in 2024 and career-high 134 OPS+ in 2022 offer hope that he could rebound in a new environment like Toronto.

Given his slow start, Ward may be one of the more affordable power bats on the market. Analysts suggest the Angels would likely ask for a prospect within Toronto’s top 30 but outside the top 10—a reasonable cost for a team trying to stay in the AL East race.

The Angels, for their part, have been open to dealing Ward since last year’s deadline and may be more inclined to make a move this summer. According to Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report, the outfielder was among the names floated previously alongside Tyler Anderson and Luis Rengifo. If the Angels continue to slide in the standings, Ward could be on the move.
